Equipment Needed While Tracking Mountain Gorillas In Rwanda And Uganda
Gorilla trekking is one among the most attractive creature in the parks of Rwanda, Uganda and Congo.
Here are some of the essentials gorilla trekkers need to enjoy there experience
1. Small, lightweight, frameless, waterproof back/day pack
2. Thick pair of socks
3. A waterproof, squash-able hat
4. Drinking water
5. High speed film 400 ASA minimum, 800 ASA recommended (no flash photography allowed on the track), fast film, binoculars.
6. Long pants (jeans/khakis) and a long sleeved shirt
7. Light, waterproof hiking or walking boots alternatively wear shoes with treaded soles.
8. Sturdy trousers and sunglasses are also necessary.
9. Wear sun screen and don’t forget to carry a sun hat.
10. Wear gloves to protect your hands when you grip vegetation - gardening gloves are recommended for this job.
11. Carry waterproof rain pants, a rain suit or a breathable lightweight rain poncho since it does rain unexpectedly in the forest at times.
12. Wear moisture wicking undergarments, lightweight wool socks and a long-sleeved shirt.
13. Thick sweaters are not necessary on the track, as it gets very hot during tracking. It is best to have layers of clothing as temperatures tend to change.

15. You may ask the guides to make you a walking stick if needed.
Booking A Gorilla Tour / Safari
Booking your gorilla tour or safari in Uganda or Rwanda is easier once done through a recognized safari tour agent. A gorilla permit costs 500 USD per trek @ person. It’s advisable to book your gorilla permit at least three (3) months before the actual gorilla trekking date otherwise permits are extremely on high demand in both countries.
